Victorian Storm

After more than two months I am finally posting a new session! There are more than few reasons for the delay, but the most relevant one is the amount of time it took me for all the post-processing. I stepped out of my comfort zone on this one and underestimated the time it takes (for me at least) to add all these elements and get it all just right!
This was an idea I had had for some time. I lived in Brighton, England for 4 years, and had quite a few photos of the town, the seafront, and all it's attractions and architecture. All of the photos I took with an old compact camera, and while they aren't of the greatest quality, I thought, hey, they're more than good enough as backgrounds! On a few of the photos I used some stock images.
This was my second shoot with Lina and she did a great job researching typically Victorian make-up, then fixing that and Magda's hair.
Then, the sweet and talented Magda in her first studio shoot, got strapped into an amazingly tight corsett and put on a fantastic show. She had such a range of emotions and poses that I think there were 50+ great photos! From proud, to silly, to annoyed, to cold and scared - she did it all. (By the way, the water and goose bumps in the last photo are real! It wasn't enough that we tortured Magda by strapping her into that corset, I sprayed her with water and cranked up my fan too - she was truly miserable in the end! =)
A super big thanks to both Lina and Magda for their effort, and for their patience as I then snailed my way through the editting process as best I could. You are both fantastic!!!
(One last final note - I know the lightiing on the backgrounds doesn't always match that on the model. To pose in front of painted boards as backgrounds was a typicl thing found in old England. Even now on the Brighton Pier you can pose in front of these boards. And come on, since when is the background irl black and white while the foreground is in color ;-)
